CES Sports at the Mardyke Arena
The Mardyke Sports Grounds and Mardyke Arena are UCC’s main sports facilities, where students take part in their sports activities. Located in Cork City, the centre includes a modern indoor arena and outdoor sports areas. Students can enjoy sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, and rock climbing. The arena has a gym, sports halls, and a climbing wall, making it a great place for students to stay active and have fun during their time in Cork.
Whats on offer?
At the Mardyke Sports Grounds and Arena, CES students can enjoy a range of fun and active sports, perfect for all skill levels. Our programme is designed to help students stay active, make friends, and have a great time in a safe and supportive environment.
Sports and Games Available:
Football – enjoy matches and practice your skills on the outdoor pitches
Volleyball – play friendly games on courts set up on the grass
Basketball – shoot hoops and take part in team games in the indoor arena
Rock Climbing – challenge yourself on the indoor climbing wall
All equipment is provided, and activities are supervised by CES staff and group leaders to ensure everyone can join in safely and have fun.
What Should I Bring?
Comfortable sports clothes and runners
Water bottle (refill points available)
Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
Rain jacket (if the weather looks uncertain)
Lots of energy and a positive attitude!
