Meals, including lunch, is for residential students only and all meals are served in the Main Rest canteen. Homestay students will have packed lunches which can be eaten anywhere on the grounds of the campus
Meal times are as follows:
Breakfast: 08:30 – 09:15 Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 09:30 Saturday and Sunday
Lunch: 13.15 – 14:00 Monday to Friday, packed lunch (to be collected at breakfast) on Saturday and Sunday
Dinner: 18:30 – 19:15 Monday to Friday, 19:00 – 20:30 Saturday and Sunday
The food is varied and caters to vegan, halal, lactose-free, and gluten-free diets, BUT students must inform serving staff of any dietary needs.

The University College Cork (UCC) campus is set in the heart of Cork City, surrounded by beautiful gardens and the wooded banks of the River Lee. You will love its blend of historic charm and modern energy, with leafy walkways and striking Gothic Revival buildings alongside state-of-the-art facilities.
The campus is built around the famous Quadrangle, which dates back to the 1840s and remains the symbolic heart of the university. The surrounding area of Cork City is vibrant and full of culture, with cafés, galleries, and the historic English Market just a short walk away.
UCC was founded in 1845 as Queen’s College, Cork, one of three Queen’s Colleges established in Ireland to provide higher education for all, regardless of background or religion. It became University College Cork in 1908, when it joined the newly created National University of Ireland.

Homestay students will travel to and from classes at the Western Gateway Building, UCC using public transport. A Leap Card will be provided on arrival to support daily travel.
Residential students are within walking distance of classes, meals, and most on-campus activities.
For selected off-campus afternoon activities and weekend excursions, private coach transport will be provided for all students and group leaders.
Students and Group Leaders should wear their lanyard at all times on the campus. If you don't, you will be asked to return home to collect it!!
If you are worried about somebody you see on the campus, tell a member of staff.
Fire safety instructions and evacuation procedures are located on the back of every classroom door. If you see fire, SOUND THE FIRE ALARM IMMEDIATELY! If the fire alarm sounds, follow instructions issued from your teacher.
In the event of a fire, please adhere to the following:
1. DO NOT PANIC!
2. Listen to your teacher’s instructions and leave the room in single file. Leave your bags and coats behind
3. Make your way calmly to the nearest exit (clearly marked FIRE EXIT)
4. Do not stop to chat to friends or to search for them in a different room
5. Once outside walk calmly away from the exit and toward the gateway building with the rest of your class, then wait for your teacher . He/she will check your name off on the class list
6. If a member of your class is missing, tell your teacher. DO NOT go looking for him/ her
7. Your teacher will take you to wait for the all clear
The Western Gateway Building is at the heart of University College Cork’s campus and will be the main hub for your summer school experience. Classes, workshops, and activities will take place here, making it a central and convenient spot to meet, learn, and get ready for excursions. Surrounded by green spaces, paths, and modern facilities, it’s a lively and welcoming environment for students to enjoy during their time on campus.
