Review the full risk assessment for the day's destination and activities.
Ensure you have the group register and emergency contact numbers for all leaders and students.
Make sure students have plenty of water. Encourage them to refill bottles with tap water and explain that tap water is safe to drink in Ireland.
Confirm that you have all necessary tickets or booking confirmations.
Wear the official group T‑shirt or hoodie for easy identification.
Fully charge your phone and bring a power bank.
Remind students to bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of light rain.
Encourage students to wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for walking and outdoor terrain.
Take a quick headcount before departure.
Prepare to take group photos at key locations and share them in the programme WhatsApp group.

Lazy punts

CES Oxford has an arrangement with the Punting Company, Magdalen Bridge Boathouse. We usually bring all our large groups there for punting.

When taking a group of students there, make your way from the meeting point towards the Magdalen Bridge.

Once you arrive there, ask the groups to divide in groups of 5 as this the max a punt can take. In the meantime, go inside their little office, let them know you have a reservation (if there is one, usually there is no problem if there isn't one), and that you would like to be invoiced. They will give you a little notebook where you need to fill in some information.
Group`s Name + our email, oxfordsocial@ces-schools.com + our school name which is CES Oxford, 67 High Street, Wheatley. Self -Drive and then date and signature.
Then each group will be given instructions and a map by the punting staff members, and set off. Make sure everyone gets on ok and assist where needed.
Once everyone gets on, feel free to get on a punt or a pedaloo and go after the students. Don`t forget to take loads of photos of them.
Everyone is meant to punt for one hour. If they are late, we get charged extra for that.

After the activity is finished, either make your way back with the group to campus or give them free time. Don`t forget to Enjoy yourself!
